One of London's biggest hospitals has opened the doors to a new cancer centre unlike any other.
At the heart of its mission? The patients - how they're treated... how they cope and how they live with cancer.
Our Health Correspondent, Liz Wickham, has this report.
With MacMillan Cancer Support, staff at UCL say the new centre will offer the most advanced facilities of their kind anywhere in the UK.
A 100 million pound Cancer Centre - which patients have helped to design - has opened at University College Hospital.
Those running the Macmillan Cancer Centre say it will redefine the way patients are treated, focusing on all aspects of their outpatient care.
They will also have the opportunity to take part in leading-edge clinical trials.
The machine will be in an adjacent building housing the fictional sounding enormous** Cyclotron** which if goverment funding comes through will provide proton therapy; a far better treatment than radio therapy and currently only available in the US .
