Mystery benefactor pays for life-changing surgery

Xavier Fane could walk un-aided after the pionerring surgery

A mystery benefactor has donated £33,000 to help a 3 year old boy get an operation that will allow him to walk unaided for the first time.

The cash gift means Xavier Fane can now fly to the US for pioneering surgery by a world leading specialist.

The youngster, from East Dulwich, has cerebral palsy and cannot walk without the aid of a special green walker.

He will undergo a pioneering selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) operation, which could reverse some of his problems with mobility and balance.

Chris in September last year - before his operation

Our reporter Sangeeta Kandola went to meet Chris Brittain and Beau Brown in September last year - best friends, both have cerebral palsy.

Beau, from Weybridge, recently received an operation in American to help him walk. Chris meanwhile, from New Haw in Surrey, is still waiting for enough money to be raised to pay for a similar operation.
