A 15 year old who murdered a "promising" A-level student as he tried to recover a stolen smartphone has been jailed for a minimum of 13 years.

17 year old Dogan Ismail suffered a single stab wound to the heart as he tried to get back a BlackBerry robbed from another 15-year-old during an altercation two days earlier.

Today his killer, Dawda Jallow, from Peckham, London, was ordered to serve at least 13 years of a life sentence after he was found guilty of murder by a jury.

Before passing sentence at the Old Bailey, Judge Christopher Moss took the unusual step of lifting an order granting him anonymity as a minor.

The judge told Jallow that the attack was carried out with "force and ferocity" but added that he could not be sure whether he intended to kill his victim.

Teen in court for murder

A teenager will appear in court today charged with the murder of a 17-year-old boy who was killed after trying to recover a BlackBerry phone stolen from his younger brother.

Anthony Munroe, 18, is accused of murdering Dogan Ismail on an estate in Walworth, south east London, on December 30th 2012.

Dogan was killed on the Aylesbury Estate after going there with his 15-year-old brother, Orhan, to recover his phone which had been stolen two days earlier.There they encountered a group of four males and, during an "altercation", the victim was fatally injured, police said.

Munroe is in custody and will appear at Hendon Magistrates' Court today.The agency worker is also charged with one count of theft, committed on the day of the murder.Police are still looking to trace 15-year-old Dawda Jallow, from Peckham, south east London, to question him over the murder.

Police investigating the death of 17 year-old Dogan Ismail in Walworth on Sunday have released a CCTV image of a youth they wish to trace. 15 year-old Dawda Jallow was filmed taking a bus between Camberwell Green and Newington Causeway that evening. His face has been blurred for legal reasons.
