Prince Andrew visits Duke of Edinburgh in hospital

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, paid his father Prince Philip a visit in hospital today.

Philip was admitted to the London Clinic a week ago for exploratory abdominal surgery.

Prince Andrew waved to the photographers waiting outside but did not give an update on his father's health.

Queen's card addressed to 'HRH The Duke of Edinburgh'

A closeup image of the Queen walking into the hospital to visit her husband today appears to show an envelope addressed to "HRH The Duke of Edinburgh".

Prince Philip turned 92 today, four days after undergoing exploratory surgery on his abdomen.

Duke set for two-month 'period of convalescence'

Buckingham Palace said today the Duke of Edinburgh was "comfortable and in good spirits" and would likely take a two-month "period of convalescence" when he leaves hospital.

A statement said:

His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh is progressing according to plans at this early stage. He is comfortable and in good spirits.

He will remain in hospital for up to two weeks, and it is expected he will then be taking a period of convalescence of approximately two months.
