Bar opens with first caricature of Prince George

Londoner Gerald Scarfe, political cartoonist for The Sunday Times for 47 years and former satirical cartoonist for Punch magazine and Private Eye is to show off his work in a new Soho bar.

The walls of the bar, named after him, will be hung with his characteristic depictions of historical figures and famous faces, including what must be the first caricature of the third in line to the throne, Prince George.

The former Royal college of Art student worked on Walt Disney’s Hercules, he designed and directed the animation sequences for the film of Pink Floyd’s The Walland on television Gerald created the opening title sequences for the classic comedy series, Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister.

His latest project sees a series of large murals on the walls of The Rosewood Hotel's Scarfes Bar on High Holborn from today.
