Fulham confirm they had to escort Lord Kinnock from seat

Fulham FC have confirmed that former Labour leader and Cardiff FC fan Neil Kinnock was escorted from his seat during a Premier League football match after upsetting fans with his celebrations.

“There’s not a lot to say. Lord Kinnock was sat in the home end and was moved by our stewards to the away end where there were a few empty seats. We would do the same with any away fan, it’s club policy. The home fans were upset when they saw him celebrate as they would be with any fan celebrating a goal against their team”

The Labour peer and his two grandchildren were among hundreds of Cardiff City fans sitting in the home stand at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground.

Lord Kinnock's office in London said he had been expecting to sit in the "away end" with other fans of the newly-promoted Welsh club.

Cardiff secured a 2-1 win - their first away victory in the top flight since 1962.
