The funeral of a police officer shot dead as he tried to stop a gunman will take place today.

Pc Ian Dibell was killed near his home in Essex when he was off-duty on July 9.

His suspected killer, Peter Reeve, was found dead in a churchyard in Writtle, near Chelmsford, the following day.

The family of Pc Dibell called him a "hero" and said he had paid for his actions "in the most devastating way".
