West Ham will welcome Swansea to Upton Park later today as they seek to build on Wednesday's impressive draw against Chelsea.
Sam Allardyce's side could see themselves move out of the relegation zone if they clinch three points with a win.
Allardyce could also hand Italian signings Antonio Nocerino and Marco Borriello their first full debuts since joining the club.
Despite going behind to an early goal from Martin Skrtel, Chelsea kept up the pressure at the top with a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. Eden Hazard equalised for the Blues with a well-struck shot from the edge of the area.
Then Samuel Eto'o's goal after 34 minutes gave them the winner. The victory puts Chelsea third in the table.
Arsenal has reclaimed the top spot in the Premier League following a 1-0 win over Newcastle. It was Olivier Giroud's header that secured the match for the Gunners. It was his 11th goal of the season. Arsenal overtook Manchester City at the top of the ladder.
Fulham have signed Darren Bent on a season-long loan from Aston Villa. The striker was out for much of last season with a hamstring injury, but still scored six goals in 23 appearances.
At a press conference, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that the process of trying to sign new players was frustrating, but that there "are 18 days to go until the end of the transfer market, and we are of course looking to strengthen our squad"
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that midfielder Mikel Arteta will not play in the first game of the season against Aston Villa.
At a press conference, he named defender Per Mertesacker as captain.
Asked about the importance of winning the first game of the season he said: "We know with the Premier League nowadays that every game is important, and that a good start is vital, especially when you play at home. So we'll put all the effort in to win our first game."
Defender Thomas Vermaelen and full back Nacho Monreal are also both out with back injuries, but Wenger revealed that Vermaelen could soon be back to full fitness and is expected to make an appearance soon.

The Premier League has decided that Villa Park in Birmingham will host a potential play-off between Arsenal and Chelsea if the two sides end the season level on points, goal difference and goals scored.
If that happens, the game will be played on May 26th to decide which club automatically qualifies for the Champions League group stage while the losers will have to go through a qualifying round.
