Happy St Patrick's day.

If you are heading out to celebrate at today's St Patrick's day parade and festival in central London you might want to keep your umbrella to hand.

It's a day of rain or showers.

Whilst there may be a few sunny intervals, overall it will be cloudy.

I'm sure today's gloomy weather won't dampen spirits….

We also have two local derbies across the capital today.

Tottenham take on Fulham this afternoon and Chelsea are at home to West Ham.

Both games are likely to see some wet weather.

The showers will merge into longer spells of rain during the course of this afternoon and continue into this evening.

I shall of course be supporting my team the mighty Hammers.

Away games haven't been easy for us this season, but we have won two out of our last four games, so lets hope this winning streak continues.

Boris delighted with Irish celebrations

The Olympics-themed parade runs from Piccadilly to Trafalgar Square where there is live music.

High-jumper Deirdre Ryan and boxer Kenneth Egan, who have qualified for the Games, are among those joining.

There are 220,488 Irish people living in London according to the last census.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: 'I'm delighted to once again be backing London's St Patrick's Day celebrations.

"That they are amongst the biggest outside Ireland reflects the longstanding contribution of many generations of Irish people to London life."
