Stars sing Christmas carols to raise money for charity

Text Santa, ITV's festive appeal to help six charities, culminates tonight with a special appeal show but throughout the day there have been fundraising events.

And stars of West End shows got in the spirit of things this afternoon, by singing Christmas carols in Leicester Square.

Here's our Arts and Entertainment Correspondent Lucrezia Millarini.

Stars of the London stage will come together today for carol singing and festive merry-making in support of ITV's Text Santa charity appeal, including performers from West End shows Billy Elliot the Musical, 39 Steps, Cabaret, Horrible Histories, and Let It Be.

Joey from War Horse will make three separate appearances.

The public is invited to join in the sing along with the famous faces at the event taking place outside the Leicester Square TKTS ticket booth in London's theatreland.

Text Santa is ITV's annual fundraising initiative. An evening of special programming, bringing together live studio performances and special versions of regular ITV shows, will bring the work of the charities to life.
