A man arrested over a mugging in a Hammersmith cemetery which left a senior British diplomat blinded in one eye has been released on bail.
The 29-year-old man was arrested last night on suspicion of robbery in connection with the attack on Bermuda's new Governor George Fergusson last Friday.
The 56-year-old had surgery on his left eye on Saturday but lost his sight in the affected eye the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) confirmed.
He was discharged by doctors yesterday afternoon.

"The 29-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was taken to a west London police station. He has now been bailed to return on 7 June pending further inquiries."
