Parents lose fight to save school

Parents fighting to save a north London school from being converted into an academy have tonight lost their battle.

Downhills Primary in Tottenham was one of four failing schools in the area singled out to become an academy - but campaigners fought the proposal, arguing that it was improving.

Tonight the Department of Education has announced it will go ahead with those plans and that the school will be taken over by the Harris Federation in September.
