New laws for scrap metal sales debated

New laws put forward by a Croydon MP Richard Ottaway to ban cash payments for traders who buy scrap metal were debated in the Commons today. Yet a change in legislation is too late for the Henry Moore Foundation whose bronze sculpture worth half a million pounds was stolen.

Moves to create new laws, to tackle the growing problem of metal theft, will take a step forward today, with the second reading of a scrap metal bill introduced by the MP for Croydon South.
