The organisers of a Hyde Park concert have been criticised for turning off the power as rock stars Bruce Springsteen and Sir Paul McCartney were about to thank the crowd. The Hard Rock Calling concert had overrun and it was brought to a sudden end to comply with Westminster Council's licence.

Leith Penny from the council said: "Concert organisers, not the council, ended last night's concert in Hyde Park to comply with their licence, which allows them to run the concert until 10.30pm. Licences are granted until certain times to protect residents in the area from noise late at night."
