Four people were taken to hospital after several vehicles collided on a stretch of motorway early today.
Emergency crews were called to the southbound stretch of the M23 at junction 9 near Gatwick at around 4am following the crash, Sussex Police said. Three vehicles were involved in the collision.
The carriageway was immediately closed and is expected to remain shut until later this morning while forensic examinations take place, a police spokesman said.
The conditions of those caught up in the accident is not known.
