Paralympian champion Sophie Christiansen is to add to her gold haul as she puts the finishing touches to a golden postbox at Royal Holloway, University of London. The Paralympic Dressage Rider and Royal Holloway alumna became the first British triple gold medallist of the 2012 Games.
The postbox, positioned in the centre of Royal Holloway’s campus in Egham, was chosen to be painted gold in recognition of the continued support Sophie received while juggling her studies and her sports commitments.
Sophie competed in the Beijing Paralympic Games, where she won two gold medals, while studying as a Maths undergraduate at Royal Holloway. Sophie, who has cerebral palsy, was a member of the College’s Student Talented Athlete Recognition Scheme and was made an Honorary Fellow of the College in May.
