Education Secretary Michael Gove chose a west London school to announce a new exam to replace GCSEs. The Government is bringing in tougher O-Level style tests instead. It will be called the EBacc - which stands for English Baccalaureate.
When the new exams are introduced in 2015, every pupil will take them. This is what is said to be the biggest overhaul of the exam system in England since the 1980s. More from Nick Thatcher.
