Man jailed for manslaughter in Bexley

A man has been jailed for six years having been convicted of manslaughter at the Inner London Crown Court after he inflicted fatal head injuries on another man following an argument at a kebab shop in Bexley.

Paul Gunner, 32, had been out celebrating his birthday when he was attacked at around 1am on 16 October 2011 in Bourne Road.

Ben Worden, 33, of Wickham Street, Welling, punched the victim at least twice outside the kebab shop, knocking him to the floor, and again shortly afterwards.

Mr Gunner was knocked out cold and hit his head on the floor, and died as a result of his injuries at 2.26am.

Worden, who had been drinking heavily, did not know Mr Gunner and had simply taken exception to him knocking on the window of the takeaway in an attempt to gain the attention of his brother.
