Bolton Wanderers have asked Crystal Palace for permission to speak to the Eagles' manager Dougie Freedman about taking over at the Reebok Stadium. Bolton parted company with their previous manager Owen Coyle earlier this month after a string of poor results.

Wanderers now hope to persuade Freedman to move to Bolton to turn around a club who were in the Premier League last season. However, Freedman has been a success at Palace since he took over last year - the club are currently fourth in the Championship table.
