Cycling safety is a top priority for the Government and we will do everything possible to reduce casualties on our roads.
We are not holding back TfL’s plans to test new techniques such as traffic signals for cyclists because it has not submitted any formal application to DfT for approval.
We would be happy to consider any such plans and have contacted TFL to arrange a meeting.
In the meantime we have already made it easier and cheaper for local authorities to install 20mph zones and limits.
Work to revise the traffic sign regulations is already underway and we are planning to include a range of new measures specifically for cyclists.
