Government asking transport companies to 'liaise more closely with their weather forecasters'

Transport Minister Norman Baker said:

“A great deal of work has been done across the transport sector to prepare for winter and all key transport operators – including airports, train operating companies and Network Rail - have contingency plans in place to make sure that disruption to passengers is minimised in the event of severe weather.

“However, I am disappointed in the inconvenience caused to passengers today on the rail network, and am asking the industry to liaise more closely with their weather forecasters in order to be able to respond better in the future.”
