London and the Home Counties were on flood alert today as homeowners were warned their homes were at risk from rising water levels.
The Environment Agency issued 45 flood alerts for the South-East after very heavy overnight rain caused rivers to threaten to burst their banks as downpours were forecast for the rest of the day.
Three flood alerts - meaning flooding is possible and homeowners are put on alert - were issued for the London suburbs.
