The flood alerts were for the River Pinn and Woodridings Stream at Pinner, Eastcote, Ruislip, Ickenham, Uxbridge and Yiewsley, the Middle River Roding including Abridge, Loughton and Buckhurst Hill and the River Crane at Hillingdon, Southall, Cranford, Feltham and Twickenham.
Five more serious flood warnings were issued for the South-East - three in Hampshire and others in and East and West Sussex.
The South West was worse hit, with six villages in Cornwall flooded, trains cancelled between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst in Hampshire when the River Lymington burst its banks and fire crews called to a property in Devon.
