Arrest made in Bow murder

Detectives investigating the murder of Eric Paul in Bow have today arrested a man.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at an address in Bow on suspicion of murder. He currently remains in custody at an east London police station pending further enquiries.

Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly before 3.00am on Saturday 22 December to reports of a man suffering multiple stab injuries.

Eric Paul, 50, of Matthews House, Burgess Street, Poplar, was found in the street in Devons Road, at the junction with Gale Street, E3.

The Air Ambulance also attended and Mr Paul was treated at the scene before being taken to the Royal London Hospital. He was subsequently pronounced dead at 5.11am.

A post-mortem examination at Poplar Mortuary gave the cause if death as a stab wound to the chest.
