Nine imprisoned over foiled robbery

Nine London men have been sentenced to a combined totalof 45 years imprisonment after police foiled their robbery plot.

Officers swooped on the gang who were driving aroundHeathrow preparing to carry out the robbery on a warehouse.

They found gas, cable ties, radios in their vehicles, and the men were wearing balaclavas and gloves.

Seven of the men are from Middlesex, one is from West Drayton and the other from Uxbridge.

All have been given sentences ranging from 6 to 7.5 years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to rob.

This was a hardened group of professional criminals intent on committing serious offences. Were it not for the intervention of the Flying Squad they would have had a free hand to terrorise staff at the warehouse and net property valued at £1.4 million.
