It appears taxpayers will be asked to bail out a station, which might not be finished because it is struggling for money. In February it was suggested that an £80 million station built just for Crossrail may never actually open to passengers.

Crossrail station 'may never open'

It was suggested today that a station built just for Crossrail may never actually see any passengers.

A property development company has spent £80 million building a station at Woolwich.

But it claims it could now be left empty over a dispute about who pays for the rest of it.

If the money isn't found, south London would be denied a vital rail link.
