A gang posing as police officers have stolen thousands from elderly and vulnerable victims across west Essex.
Most victims are initially contacted by phone by a member of the gang pretending to be an officer from the Metropolitan Police.
The gang member then dupes the victim into handing over their bank details, including PIN number, by claiming their account may have been compromised.
In some instances the gang has convinced the victim that their cards, cash and other valuables will be safer under the possession of the police. Another member of the gang, posing as a courier then calls at the victims house to collect the items.
