There's nothing unusual about a football club sacking a manager these days, but how about letting him stay on to lead them out in a Wembley final?

Southend United have done just that after they parted company with Paul Sturrock.

With the side slipping away from the play-off places in League Two, Southend are only a fortnight away from facing Crewe in the final of the Johstone's Paint Trophy.

The club's chairman, Ron Martin, has released a statement saying he thinks it's only right that Sturrock return to lead his side out at Wembley and he's agreed.

Phil Brown is rumoured to be his replacement.
