Thousands of rail commuters heading into London are facing lengthy delays today after a signalling centre at a railway station in West Sussex wasevacuated. Fire crews cleared the centre at Three Bridges in Crawley after fire alarms went off.
The closure is causing major disruption to rail networks south of the capital. Southern services between Brighton, Horsham and East Croydon may be delayed by 90 minutes until midday.
First Capital Connect trains between Brighton and East Croydon are also delayed, as are First Great Western Trains between Gatwick and Reigate, and Gatwick Express between Victoria and Brighton. The problems are expected to last all morning.
