82-year-old charged with attempting to smuggle £200,000 of cocaine through Gatwick Airport

An 82-year-old man has been charged with trying to smuggle £200,000 worth of cocaine through Gatwick Airport.

The Home Office says Donald Garwood of Tottenham, north London was arrested in the airport's South Terminal along with 62-year-old Calvin Campbell also from Tottenham at 10.30am on Thursday.

They had just arrived back on a flight from Montego Bay, in Jamaica, and between them they are suspected of allegedly trying to bring in two kilos of the class A drug with a street value of £200,000.

Both men remain in Border Force custody and are expected to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates Court today.
