A spokesperson from Bromley council said this afternoon they are in talks with Thames Water about the huge hole that closed part of Penge High Street, but the cause of the collapsing road has still not been determined.
Thames Water would not release any further details at this stage, but said they were "working closely with the council to determine the cause of the damage".
They also said they have received complaints about a strong smell of sewage coming up from the hole.
