A wealthy woman murdered in her central London flat by two professional conmen had known one of the men for quite a while, and had visited him in prison, a court heard today.
Carole Waugh was said to have lent Rakesh Bhayani £40,000, prosecutor Patrick Gibbs said today. Mr Gibbs added:
It seems that she had been intimate with him at one time or another in the past.
She may have first met him through an advertisement of herself as an escort that she had placed on the internet.
Once he had been released from prison, knowing how much she had, he planned that she should die.
