A police officer from Tower Hamlets Safer Transport Team helped deliver a baby yesterday afternoon.
PC Robert Morgan was dealing with a vehicle, which had been stopped in Newham, when he was flagged down by the father-to-be at around 1pm.
The father was driving his partner, who was in labour, to hospital when he passed PC Morgan.
He pulled over and asked him for help as the baby was on its way.
The heavily pregnant woman got out of the car and PC Morgan acted quickly, calling for assistance and an ambulance, before being joined by another Tower Hamlets based police officer.
They helped deliver the baby girl, who was born at 1:23pm.
Both mother and child were then taken to hospital.
