Remains of a human leg have been found in a lake in Dagenham, police have said.
Police were called to White Hart Lakes, near Chase Road after a member of the public reported seeing an item floating in the water.
Initial indications revealed that the item is part of a human leg but further forensic analysis is being conducted.
Police investigating the disappearance of Neil Buchel, 39, of Dagenham, are aware of the discovery and have informed his family although officers said it was too early to say whether the find is linked.
