Arsenal forward Theo Walcott says he will not rush his return from a serious knee injury.
The 25-year-old ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during Arsenal's FA Cup win against Tottenham in January in what was a severe blow to the club's season.
"I am not pushing myself to be fit for the World Cup or anything like that. I want to be back quickly, of course, but safely, too," Walcott told Arsenal's matchday magazine ahead of tonight's clash with Newcastle United.
"I want to try and be back for the early part of next season, that is the goal, so there will be a lot of hard work throughout the summer and during the World Cup."
Arsenal will go four points clear of Everton in fourth place if they beat Newcastle tonight.
