London workforce younger and more educated

More than half of the workforce in London is below the age of 40, according to a new study. 54% per cent of workers are 39 or under, compared to 45% in the rest of England and Wales.

London is also attracting a high number of university graduates, with the Office for National Statistics study finding 49% of workers hold a degree. The average for the rest of England and Wales London was 32%.

The capital also has a higher number of workers who weren't born in the UK. 19% of workers in London arrived in the UK over the last 10 years, compared to just 5% of the workplace population in the rest of England and Wales.
