Car smashes through estate agent's front window

A car smashed through the front window of estate agent Portico in east London setting fire to the building.

More than 20 firefighters were called to Woodgrange Road in Forest Gate to find the car had burst into flames. The ground floor was destroyed but no one was injured.

Part of the first floor of the shop was also damaged by fire.

The Brigade was called at 0541 and the fire was under control at 0649. Fire crews from Stratford, Leytonstone, Plaistow and Leyton fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire was the ignition of petrol vapour from an electrical spark due to the collision damage to the car.
