The Eastbourne Half Marathon is in its eighth year and has raised more than £100,000 for local charities so far. The event in Sussex relies on volunteers to help staff it. In 2011 a record number of people took part. Despite a bitter sea breeze in the town, more than a thousand people turned out to race last year. The 13-mile route is a gruelling one - runners have to negotiate hills, slippery gravel slopes and sharp turns. Our reporter Nashreen Issa was there. Her report includes an interview with the sponsor of last year's event - Mark Reid, and Stephen Lloyd, Lib Dem - the MP for Eastbourne.
