One hundred and ninety-three passengers and crew lost their lives in the Zeebrugge ferry disaster on 6th March 1987. The tragedy happened less than two minutes after the ferry left the Belgian port of Zeebrugge for Dover with its bow doors still open.

This afternoon around three hundred people gathered in Dover to remember the tragedy and to see a memorial garden dedicated to the event. John Ryall reports.
