ITV Meridian has been marking World Kidney Day by following the story of a father from Kent as he tries to save his adopted son's life by giving him one of his healthy kidneys. Mike Powis is the last hope for his son Louis, who, like 7,000 others in the UK, desperately needs a kidney transplant.
On Thursday we saw Mike go into the operating theatre at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, and the delicate process begin to remove his healthy kidney. And just a warning that this special report contains scenes of surgical procedures.
