Titanic 'seen' through sound

The image has been created out of more than 100,000 sonar 'photographs' obtained by two robot submarines across the wreck site which measures fifteen square miles.

The survey was organised by RMS Titanic Inc who say the new image is clear enough to show many features on the liner's deck, including doors, hatch covers and port holes.

The Titanic sank on April 15, 1912, during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. More than 1,500 passengers and crew died in the disaster - with nearly 600 of the dead coming from Hampshire.
