Men jailed for drug smuggling
Jeffery Green, 53, of Newark Street, Wigan, was stopped when he arrived at Dover in June 2011. A detector dog searched his car and found approx 13 kilos of heroin. Green was arrested for the attempted importation and pleaded guilty as well as to a second charge of conspiracy to import the drugs.
Paul Gleeson, 52, St Matthews Close, Wigan, had bought the car Green was driving. He also pleaded guilty to the importation at Canterbury Crown Court.
Green and Gleeson were each sentenced to seven years jail.
