The Duchess of Cambridge visited Aldershot today. She met the Irish Guards at Mons Barracks as part of celebrations for St Patrick's Day.
Sprigs of Shamrock have been handed out to Irish Guardsman to commemorate St Patrick's Day by the Duchess of Cambridge. It was her first solo military engagement since she married Prince William. The presentation of a Shamrock is part of a tradition which began in 1901. Every year since then, a senior female member of the Royal Family has carried out the honours.
