Duty on alcohol and cigarettes is known as 'sin taxes.' It is a traditional way of raising cash for the Government. There have been debates about bringing in a minimum price for alcohol, to stop very cheap supermarket deals. No more duty on alcohol, but cigarettes to cost more.
