Tributes after a sudden death

Kent County Council (KCC) has announced the sudden death of Kevin Lynes, one of its leading councillors.

Mr Lynes was the Conservative member for Tunbridge Wells Rural West who served as cabinet member for Regeneration and Economic Development.

It has been reported that he died this morning during a session at a gym.

KCC leader, Paul Carter has led the tributes. He said: "Kevin was in the premier league of local government councillors nationally - hard working, dedicated and compassionate.

"He always put the residents he represented in Tunbridge Wells first."

He added:" He will be enormously missed not only in the corridors of County Hall but around the county. Our thoughts, prayers and heartfelt sympathies go out to Kevin's family and his many friends."
