The Easter bank holiday weekend is usually one of the busiest times on our railways, especially for our seaside towns and the tourism trade. However this Easter weekend there will be no trains at Hastings in Sussex.
Network Rail say all three lines into the town have_ to shut for the holiday weekend. The news has alarmed the town's people, businesses and tourism chiefs alike. Hastings needs holidaymakers' cash - most of the town's pier was destroyed in a fire in 2010 - any tourism money is a boost to the area's economy. The decision comes only weeks after the Marshlink - the Ashford to Brighton line - was closed for months for engineering work. John Ryall reports.
