The Royal Navy's most powerful warship HMS Dauntless is the Royal Navy's most powerful warship. She left her home base of Portsmouth on Wednesday on her way to the Falklands and the South Atlantic. A journey that has put her at the centre of a new diplomatic row between the UK and Argentina.

The Ministry of Defence says the mission is a 'pre-planned and routine' six-month deployment. But the decision to deploy HMS Dauntless just days after the thirtieth anniversary of the start of the Falklands War, has prompted an official complaint by Argentina to the UN about the UK's 'militarisation' in the South Atlantic.
