Sussex County Cricket Club’s former Chairman Maurice Leadley has died, aged 94.
Mr Leadley was Chairman of SCCC from 1986 to 1989 and was widely admired for his integrity and for his support for Sussex Cricket.
His business background was as Deputy Chairman of the Alliance Building Society and he had many interests including being a patron of the Chichester Festival.
He had played a key role with the Sussex Cricket Society since the 1970’s, with the SCS’s aim to further cricket interest and enthusiasm, and to provide a source of contact between cricket lovers and to promote and conduct meetings, social functions and other gatherings. He was married to his wife Thelma for 68 years.
Jim May, current SCCC Chairman, said: “Everyone at the Club acknowledges with thanks the contribution that Maurice Leadley made to Sussex Cricket, and our thoughts are with his family."
Mr Leadley's funeral will be held at St Peter’s Church in Henfield at 2pm on Wednesday April 18, and is open to all who wish to attend.
