Five thousand people gathered in Gravesend today to celebrate the Sikh festival of Vaisakhi. It marks the start of the Sikh New Year and commemorates the birth of Sikhism as a collective faith.
The town has the most established Sikh community in the country. The processions take place across India, and over the next month they'll be coming to Reading, Oxford and Southampton.
