A man has pleaded not guilty to swinging a cat by its tail in the street.
Riain Richards, 20, of Clements Road, Ramsgate, Kent, is charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a cat in La Belle Alliance Square, Ramsgate, on October 29 last year.
He entered his plea at Canterbury Magistrates' Court this morning.
CCTV footage released by the RSPCA showed the animal's attacker seemingly dancing down a road with the black cat at arm's length in scenes of abuse that last for more than 30 seconds.
Two-year-old Mowgli is seen being swung by his tail and colliding with the arm of another man.
The pet was not injured but his owner, Michelle Buchanan, believes the incident affected him.
Richards was released on unconditional bail and the case was adjourned for trial on a date to be set.
